Before you flame me from here to hell and gone, this is for entertainment purposes only! I posted a couple nomination threads, one still alive:

and found that DUers have extraordinary taste in music, but almost no inclination to agree on favorite songs. Of course this represents 90-odd replies out of many thousand DUers, but it still struck me as fascinating.

So anyways, 9 of these are the only tunes to get as many as two votes on either thread (not counting Wayne voting for Mr. Blue by the Fleetwoods on both threads). I threw in "Let's Stay Together" even though nobody actually nominated it 'cause, let's face it, I'm crazed with power. :P

Yes, I know that if there were an Other choice it would win with over 80% of the vote. Maybe that's why there isn't one...

let me just say, Whipping Post is one bad ass m-f'n song! So is Melissa, Jessica, In Memory of Elizabeth Reed, and just about anything else the Allman Bros. did.

5. With all that's been going on over the last couple of years

I can't think of a more appropriate song than "Whipping Post". I'm surprised that more people aren't voting for it. Maybe were just mostly optimists and prefer happy music.
