Anyone else watch cartoons with their kids?
Edited on Mon May-09-05 01:49 PM by redqueen
Or just on their own, even?

Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends had me cracking up this weekend. I usually just watch and chuckle a little, but this show had me cracking up.

I like chocolate milk.

8. No, sadly.
Since I like it more than they do, we don't usually catch those. :(

I never miss Yu Gi Oh or Xiaolin Showdown, though.

We also try not to miss Avatar: The Last Airbender.

7. SpongeBob is darn good
my daughter is a little older, and likes more complex cartoons. She likes Totally Spies, Yu-Gi-Oh, and WITCH. I still like Rocco's Modern Life on Nick.

We try not to miss that one. Rocco's we see now and then.

We missed a Yu Gi Oh two weekends ago and since it's a serial it's really irking us.

20. Spongebob and Fairly Oddparents
are both hilarious. The one where Patrick tells spongebob that you become an adult by saying tax exemption and listening to free form jazz is hilarious.

While we are pretty open in letting our daughter watch TV, one of the few shows we actually don't let our daughter watch Totally Spies. Its not about the violentce: the girls on Totally Spies are so damn vapid, it glorfies being stupid. I'd much rather her watch powerpuff girls, or teen titans or Justice League Unlimited (for those Gen Xers, the new Superfriends/Hall of Justice!)

11. I've watched Animaniacs and "Grammar Rock" with my BF's daughter
She's only 2 1/2, but anything animated is like baby crack to her.

We were at my house and I have very few kid-friendly videos. My BF brought a few DVDs ("Chicka Chicka Boom Boom," "Click Clack Moo," among others). She needed to be nebulized, and cartoons is how she sits still for it. My DVD player is broken (and I didn't find that out until then), so we had to go for the two cartoons I do have. It seemed to work, because later in the day, she drew a page full of question marks and wandered around muttering interjections.

15. hehehehe Grammar Rock
I'm thinking that's like schoolhouse rock. ?

I love Click Clack Moo... I've read that book about a bazillion times.

And yeah, anything animated is baby/toddler/little kid crack. It's awful trying to watch the Simpsons or anything because they keep wanting to come in and check it out. They don't quite grasp the concept of a cartoon that's not for kids.

18. Grammar Rock is indeed Schoolhouse Rock.
It's a video made up of the grammar segments. I also think they've got a Science Rock and and History Rock and so on...

There's a stage version of "Click Clack Moo" as well. :silly:

19. If I knew when Bugs Bunny would be on
I would be there with my magic helmet on!
I hear they have all been edited though to remove some of the violence. How stupid. Everyone knows Wile E. Coyote is invulnerable and always pops back into shape.

21. Really? Edited?
Hmmm maybe so... I've seen some of the Popeyes on Boom, though, and they seem as violent as ever.

Buggs Bunny is on Boom as well... all the classcis are on that network.

Cartoon Network used to have a show (they may still have, not sure) called Toon Heads, which is a 1 hour show that features classic cartoons. They usually focus on a particular director or character, or sometimes a theme. I like catching that one. :)

30. All the time!
We really like the Teen Titans right now. Avatar is also pretty awesome. I try to catch those every chance I get. Good stuff.

We're also into the Miyazaki movies that Disney has been re-releasing lately. They just came out with a new print of "Nausicaa:Valley of the Wind" that just freakin' rocks.

We also dig the usual fare, The Spongbob-Scooby-Looney Tunes-Jonny Quest-Danny Phantom-Kim Possible list goes on and on stuff....

Love the toons, man.

It's a beautiful print, too. Patrick Stewart is one of the voice actors. Wonderfully done. The behind-the-scenes stuff is excellent as well. I highly recommend it. They released it as part of a trio of movies that had not been in wide US release. The other two are "Porco Rosso", and "The Cat Returns". We bought all three as soon as they hit the shelves.

Wish I had the money to buy them... we have Castle in the Sky, Spirited Away, and one other one... will just have to rent the new stuff for now. His movies are definitely ones we like to have on hand to watch over and over, though. Oh and I also need My Neighbor Totoro.

38. My Neighbor Totoro is one of my favorites
It's such a cool story. I love the scene where they're waiting at the bus stop late at night. My kids love the cat bus.

Spirited Away is just a work of pure genuis. I can watch it over and over again and still catch new things.

We're still missing a few of his movies, but we've collected most of them. As much as we watch them, we had to purchase. We used some of the tax refund to get the trio that was just released.
