Gallbladder surgery sucks.
Anyone here have war stories? I'm worse off today then I was the first post operative day, the surgery was Wednesday. My main wound hurts, I have a rash on my tummy which looks like dots, I feel like I'm going to puke, I'm unbelievably thirsty and I'm out of pain meds. The surgeon says not to worry, ok I won't worry, but when will I feel well?

1. Wow. I had mine in 1986. My scar is about 7" long.
I had my surgery on a Tuesday. The following Monday, I was in the French Quarter drinking my ass off. Of course, I was only about 18 or 19 when I had the surgery, so I recuped much quicker than I would today.

Hell, I got busy with my boyfriend the day I was released from the hospital.

4. Yesterday I would have said do it now.
Today I'm not so sure. The problem is that there aren't any alternatives.

5. How were you during the post op week?
What happened to the irritable bowel? Did it clear up on its own?

7. It didn't for me. I still have it, almost 20 years later.

6. Is the incision infected?
I'd talk to the surgeon about the rash just to be sure. Is there any unusual discharge coming out of the wound? (Don't mean to be gross!) Take care!

11. Okay. As long as it's not puslike and yellow, you should be fine.
(I am not a doctor, but I play one on TV.)

9. I had my gallbladder removed with laparoscopic....
surgery 10 years ago. I had a two inch incision at my bra-line and four or five puncture wounds at various places on my abdomen.

I was really sore for the first couple of days but nothing is as painful or scary as a severe gallbladder attack - I was ready to perform do-it-yourself gallbladder removal! :-)

12. There aren't words for the pain.
I'd have done anything to stop it, but I don't like this.

10. Had mine done laproscopic......some pain & soreness.....
I was glad to get the damn thing out after one too many attacks. That was 13 yrs ago I was in my 30's then. I still have IRB symptoms from time to time. Now if my diverticulitis would stop I'd be happy, it sneaks up on me from time to time. They don't want to do anything surgey wise yet.

15. The anesthesia left me in an asthma-like state.

I couldn't breathe for a week. I first went to the ER thinking I been poisoned because I had been barfing for over 8 hours.

It was my gallbladder.

Because of all my previous retching then my inability to breath my ribs/chest felt crushed. I lost 30lbs in 5 days.
