This probably isn't the best way to do it, but it might be good for some people to be reassured that, although there are ten (?) or so people who post a lot and post to each other and feel that they know each other because of it, there are ... (what is it now?) 59,000 who don't.

It is human nature to want to know inside jokes, etc., and some people (erroneously) take it personally when they don't -- like they are being excluded.

IMO, that's their problem and not something that DUers who happen to feel connections with other DUers and have their own inside jokes should feel worry or feel bad about. But if recognition that they aren't alone in their "outsideness" makes the others feel better ... eh. okay.

I know about 10 people post probably 50 percent of the posts in The Lounge, and most of the stuff is in-jokes and flat-out chatting; I just use ignore on the most prolific ones in this regard and go about my way.

No big deal.

For a long time, folks would put a 700 Club banner in their sigline to advertise this status. I made a parody one once, but it never caught on.

As part of the joke, people would frequently post fake fundamentalist-type screeds to mark their entrance or impending departure from the 700 club. Not wildly funny or anything, just silly and fun.

If you're saying you might be a social butterfly but are shrugging about it, ok.

If you're asking why social butterfly is on the poll, it's because on a similar thread the other day sniffa said he was a Lounge social butterfly, and I thought it was a valid option.

If you don't know what a social butterfly is, it's what it sounds like: one who flits from person to person or group to group socially. Not a putdown or anything; usually it's something that someone claims to be (see sniffa above) rather than something you would call someone else.

If there's some other possibility I'm missing, it's probably because I'm dumb as a tree.:D

Even if a few people put you on Ignore, they'll probably take you off again within a week or so. Most people use it as a temporary release valve to avoid blasting someone who is annoying them on a particular day.

Start a thread titled "What movies made you cry like a baby?" and you'll pretty quickly find out that nobody's ignoring you. Anyway it worked for me.
