Am I the only DUer who has never ever smoked pot?

Now don't get me wrong - I'm not bothered by those who do; it's nothing against the drug. I made one of those deathbed promises to my dad (who died of lung cancer - from cigerettes) that I would never smoke anything. And I suppose I just lumped pot into the whole smoking thing.

Does this make me an oddball. Is there at least one other DUer who has never smoked it (and no, not a 13 year old who just hasn't had the chance - I'm in my 30's!)

In my case I have no interest because I can laugh at stupid things and eat junk food without herbal intervention.

LeftyDad just paid too much attention to small-town scaremongering growing up. He gets tense, he could use a little herb from time to time.

I think marijuana should be legal, I just have no personal interest in using it recreationally. On the other hand, if my neck problem keeps up, I may see about getting a prescription, because these pain killers and muscle relaxers kick my ass and my neck still bothers me.

I did it a bit in my senior year of high school, then two other times as an adult.

The first time as an adult, I ate half a box of Froot Loops, laughed at commercials, tried to read the paper and couldn't, got afraid the cat would get stoned, then fell asleep.

Hell, I can do that (besides the cat part and not being able to read the paper) all on my own!!!

The second time I did as an adult, I only took two hits. I just sat on my couch for a bit and thought "dogs walk funny." That's it.

So...meh. I do wish I had tried the whole sex while stoned thing, because I am told by even my least rambunctious friends that that is incredible. I couldn't believe THEY had done that and I hadn't! LOL!

Ah well. Seriously, I can take it or leave it. And seeing as how I don't know anyone who does it (or no one who lets me know they do it), I mostly leave it out of lack of access. And a sort of a meh attitude.

BUT. I do think alcohol messes you up more. That I believe.

First tried it back in 1981 when I was 13, at a concert... would smoke it when the opportunity arose, but with the following realization in mind:

Pot is severely overrated. Because it is illegal and carries some kind of hippie/outlaw/stoner mythos cachet about it, more is made of it than needs to be.

Truth be told the pot experience can be summed up by having a distinct but mellow buzz, with stupid pseudo-philosophical "insights" (my socks! they're so... white! what is white?) disguised as self-deceptive "brilliance", extreme munchies, a scratchy throat, and sleepiness.

If pot were legal, beer sales would soar, because less people would smoke it, after realizing all along, it pretty much does the same thing, minus thinking your "insights" are some kind of latent genius. :eyes:

Legalize it, so its true mediocrity can be exposed.

Sorry potheads, but weed is a big joke, played on you by its "forbidden" aura.

I just don't happen to agree with your initial assessment. I'm not some hippy either, and I do agree that alot of pot smokers promote dumb stereotypes.

But I also think there are positive things about it that are healthy, real, and worthwhile. I certainly don't think its overrated or that I'm convincing myself I'm getting something out of it that I'm not.

Maybe you just need to smoke better pot, i dunno ;-)

Just put the sifted pot in with any butter, or oil that you might use in baking. Add the pot/oil mixture to the other ingredients. Don't overbake, or bake at too high of a temperature. Eat, and enjoy!

Way back in 1989 when I was making my twentieth (or more) batch of cookies, I found out there is alcohol in vanilla. I still bake lots of cookies and all my mom's recipes call for vanilla, but I have not used it since then. That's how odd I am.
