'A Day Without A Mexican' - dvd
From IMDB:"Plot Outline: One day California wakes up and not a single Latino is left in the state. They have all inexplicably dissappeared, chaos, tragedy, and comedy quickly ensue."

Just saw it. Interesting. Clever & subtle social commentary for whatever Freeps might watch it, without being too 'political'. In the guise of 'newscasts', real stats are given which show the Latino/Latina impact on and contributions to the workforce, economy, and just general way of life in CA.

Anyone else see it ? Comments ?

2. Saw it
It was a good movie. Not great but good, IMHO.
A little preachy but not too preachy, and not in a bad way.
Overall I give it a thumbs up::thumbsup:

3. Now let's follow that same theme and make
"A Day Without Liberals" and show how long the country would actually survive (I'm guessing it'll be a VERY short film). We'll get to watch roads go unrepaired, children go uneducated, public utilities collapse, weekends vanish as people go to work 7 days a week, local services like trash collection will halt, city parks will turn to weed gardens, and that's just in the first month :)

4. I saw it.
It was ok. I think it went a bit far. Not in its message, I mean it was almost too disconnected from reality to effectively make its message.

5. One of the worst movies ever!
It was terrible and I was really hoping to like it. Check out what others have said about it on Amazon.

7.  I watched it this evening ...
I read what others said about it on other sites and posted here to see if any DU'ers had thoughts on it.

I don't recall saying it was on caliber with Citizen Kane in my original post.

Que ? :freak:

8. I enjoyed it
Some of the humor was more sledgehammer than rapier-like wit, but it was amusing. I live in Los Angeles so it was hitting close to home.

Interesting that they made one of the "good guys" the gringo farmer in the Central Valley.

I would say that the character of the state Senator was over the top. But since this is the state that produced Reagan, Nixon, George Murphy, Bill Knowland, Dana Rohrbacher, B-1 Bob Dornan, Randy "Dook" Cunningham, et. al.--no, he was just about right on target.

Oh, and I almost forgot the far-right Professional Catholic moralist/politician John Schmitz...the father of Mary Kay LeTourneau. His dirty laundry included the impregnating of not just one, but TWO of his college students.
