Anyone in here remember Tommy Bolin?
I do and I wish he hadn't done the Post Toastee thing to himself. That guy was a helluva musician and is still missed to this day, at least by me. "Teaser", "Post Toastee", and "Alexis" are probably his best known tunes. If you ever get a chance to hear any of his music, do it. I think you'll be impressed.

1. And here's a song that Bolin never did
"Another one bites the dust". It describes this thread.

2. Wasn't Tommy Bolin a member of Deep Purple for a while?
He was Purple's guitarist for an album or two after Ritchie Blackmore, no?

"Come Taste The Band" was the one album I remember him playing on. It was actually pretty good, as I recall.

I also remember always getting him confused with Marc Bolan of T-Rex fame.

and he was in the James Gang for an album too, which is where he did "Alexis". But his best stuff is his solo stuff in my opinion. Marc Bolan was all right too. In fact, we saw him in about '73 or '74 and he was jamming so hard that he didn't notice a light tower falling. Fortunately, it landed on some power wires overhead and never hurt anyone. But after that, my respect for Marc Bolan grew immensely. I also have a back seat boogie story about him, but it will have to wait until another time.

6. 2 James Gang albums
"Miami" and "Bang." They're both terrific. It takes a great guitarist to follow both Richie Blackmore and Joe Walsh and do them both justice. Bolin did that. It's a shame he died before realizing his potential.

5. Heard him for the first time just about an hour ago. Sirius played
the acoustic of Teaser -- I really enjoyed that. I will have to seek out more by him. Thanks!
