Basketball Team Loses In Rare 61-0 Shutout
<snip>

OLIVET, Mich. (AP) -- Shutouts happen in baseball, hockey and football. But basketball?

The Leslie High School girls' basketball team failed to score a single point in a 61-0 loss to Olivet on Tuesday night.

Leslie's players missed all 24 of their shots from the field and all four foul shots. The Blackhawks (0-13) entered averaging 15 points a game, with their highest output this season at 22.

Olivet (14-0) is ranked third in the state in Class C and already beat Leslie 56-9 this season.

2. Lisa Lesley (ironic) once scored 100 points in the FIRST HALF
of a game in Jr. High I think. The other team forfeited at halftime.

3. Unfuckingbelievable
not one single point? What the hell? Is the coach getting drunk during the practices or what? That is embarasing.

4. I blame the other coach
Who should have let the opposing team at least score one basket.

Obviously, by the fourth quarter (hell, the middle of the first quarter) this game was well in hand.

5. Did you read the article?
The coach of the defeated team said his players were missing lay-ups and 2-footers.

I'd feel worse if my team got a "mercy" basket than if we got shut out honestly, actually.

6. I knew 4th graders who could make lay-ups
there must be 0 competition to make the team at that school.

7. believe me
I played on possibly the worst high school football team in America in 1996. We didn't win a game and scored all of two touchdowns in eight games.

If another coach had given is a 'mercy' score we would have appreciated it....greatly.

8. I should've played on your high school team
The High School I played on was stubborn as hell and I didn't get alot of plays in. The coach of that high school team liked to run the ball atleast 40 times a game and I was a wide reciever.

9. Yep that's why I became a kicker
Wide outs in a wishbone offense tend not to get their name in the paper much.

13. I agree
But I am a horrible kicker, from the tee or from someone else holding the ball I can't even get the ball up in the air much less through a pair of uprights. My former coach would run alot of options and required me to do alot of blocking it was frustrating for me because I would rarely get the damn ball.

18. Ah stalk blocking
Yeah I went through about two of those drills and realized that no one was over there with the starting kicker. I was always the first one at the water cooler on water breaks. My buddies still give me a hard time about it.

"Gee sure is hot out here today huh guys"

:grr: 85 degrees and 85% humidity on a coastal Virginia August day  Thye looked at me like they were going to kill me.

19. Kind of sounds like my practices
except it was 110-120 in August but very minimal humidity though unless it was monsoon season.

10. One of our rival teams had a whole class go through without a win
they lost 55 straight or something like that. It was after I was in school, we drubbed them pretty good in our time too.

16. I would rather earn my scores
then have them given to me. Someone gave me a free touchdown I would point to the ref that someone on the team held.
