Country singer Mindy McCready was arrested early Friday and charged with drunken driving.
McCready was stopped about 3 a.m. in the suburb of Belle Meade by police who said she was speeding, driving 58 mph in a 45 mph zone. The police report said the officer smelled alcohol in the vehicle and McCready performed poorly on a field sobriety test. The report also said she refused to take a breath alcohol test.
McCready is on three years' supervised probation from an incident last year in the suburb of Brentwood. She pleaded guilty to fraudulently obtaining the painkiller OxyContin at a pharmacy in February 2004, using the name of a friend on the prescription.
She was fined $4,000 and ordered to perform 200 hours of community service work. McCready's hits include "Ten Thousand Angels" and "A Girl's Gotta Do (What a Girl's Gotta Do)." Neither McCready nor her publicist could immediately be reached for comment.
