He pitches a little too far to the right these days though.

9. Mine too. Still is -- his politics don't change what watching him play
ball did for me. JMHO.

12. Bert!
His day will come. It has to.

I was at an Angels' game one day when he gave someone a hotfoot. The guy came jumping out of the dugout during play. He was a real joker in the clubhouse. :7

13. Bert is "da Bomb"
He is the color guy for TV broadcasts of the Twins, and he is so funny! He sometimes steals the show away from Dick Bremer (the play by play guy) and it really frustrates Dick, which makes it all that much funnier!

I like the Twins, anyway. :7

15. The Angels are good too!
I am a rabid Twins fan. I cannot stand the White Sox, the Yankees, the Indians. The rest of the teams in the AL are alright in my book. :7

17. Speaking of the Angels
I am guessing you are located in the Orange County area. What do people in your region of the country think of the name change to the Angels Angels of Anaheim.

All the baseball fans I have spoken to here think it is utterly stupid.

18. I'm a native of Orange Co. -- live in MD now, but I can tell you how
Edited on Fri May-06-05 10:47 AM by bertha katzenengel
everyone there feels about it anyway:

It sucks.

The owner is a great guy, he's running the team very well. He knows and loves baseball. The Angels have needed a good owner for a long time. But this name change crap has got to go!

The Angels began life as the Los Angeles Angels because they played in Los Angeles until Anaheim Stadium was built. When they moved they became the California Angels. I believe their name was changed to the Anaheim Angels to promote the city name. It's a big convention/tourism city (it's where Disneyland is, for example).

Anaheim Stadium -- now Angels Stadium -- is in Anaheim. Anaheim is in Orange County. Los Angeles is in Los Angeles County.

The Angels have played in the shadow of Dodger Stadium for over forty years* -- and now we have to be named "Los Angeles" just because the owner wants a more recognizable name? :eyes: It's BS, and everyone I know back home -- and the prevailing attitude in both the Orange County Register and the Los Angeles Times -- is that it's BS. Seems everyone but Moreno hates it.

Thank you for asking. It is a thorn in my side.

* I bet it's the same in all metro areas with teams in both leagues, but the Dodgers -- NL -- have always gotten more attention. FAR more attention. (and I'm not dissing the Dodgers.)

19. Not a problem Bertha!
My husband is from Orange County. As he puts it, people from LA are as likely to drive an hour and a half to Anaheim to go see the Angels, as people from OC are to drive the same distance to see the Dodgers. It just is not going to happen.
