Band Banned From Performing 'Louie Louie'
Band Banned From Performing 'Louie Louie'

http://story.news.yahoo.com/s/ap/no_louie_louie

Benton Harbor Superintendent Paula Dawning cited the song's allegedly raunchy lyrics in ordering the McCord Middle School band not to perform it in Saturday's Grand Floral Parade, held as part of the Blossomtime Festival.

In a letter sent home with McCord students, Dawning said "Louie Louie" was not appropriate for Benton Harbor students to play while representing the district — even though the marching band wasn't going to sing it.

2. Little Known Historical FACT
Edited on Thu May-05-05 03:42 PM by SpiralHawk
Ye Olde Spiral Hawk actually heard the Kingsmen rock band perform their Super Mega Hit, "Louie Louie" live at my Jr. high school assembly, one afternoon about 2:30 PM. Seems like a dream now. Also remember a certain sweet brunette cheerleader flashing a big warm smile my way as we pubies made our way out into the spring sunshine on our way home.

I feel confident in saying that not one single Junior Highster was caused mental, emotional or moral injury that day. The band rocked, and we rocked with them. So rock on.

Keep on Rockin the Free World,
Keep on Rockin the Free World...

17. I also saw the Kingsmen perform the song live, though not at school
It was at a "teen fair" that my cousin and I went to (with our mothers); I was around 10 or 11.

11. 1968? Try 1963!
That was when the whole "obscene lyrics" controversy broke. By '68, I think everyone and their dog knew the lyrics were about as "dirty" as, say, "God Bless America." (The Snopes link in a previous post include the real lyrics, so you can see how "offensive" they are.)

I can't believe that anyone, in this day and age, would still believe that hoary old urban legend. I don't think you resemble Rip Van Winkle, but I have to wonder how long Ms. Dawning's been sleeping. I also hope this nets her an automatic slot on next week's Top 10 Conservative Idiots!

:spank:

8. excuse me, but the FBI thinks differently:
they actually spent taxpayer money on this. This is their interpretation of the lyrics. Seriously.
---

Louie, Louie,
grab her way down low.
Louie, Louie,
grab her way down low.

A fine little bitch, she waits for me;
she gets her kicks on top of me.
Each night I take her out all alone;
she ain't the kind I lay at home

Each night at ten, I lay her again;
I fuck my girl all kinds of ways.
And on that chair, I lay her there;
I felt my boner in her hair.

If she's got a rag on, I'll move above;
It won't be long, she'll slip it off.
I'll take her in my arms again;
tell her I'd rather lay her again.

14. yes, but they came up with the conclusion that those
WEREN'T the lyrics. Some school kids just re-wrote the lyrics, which are creole english and quite banal and sweet. It's all explained on www.snopes.com (look up louie louie)

15. A fine little girl, she waits for me
Edited on Thu May-05-05 04:20 PM by Boo Boo
On edit: a slightly different version.
AFAIK, the actual lyrics to Louie Louie:

CHORUS:
Louie Louie, oh no
Me gotta go
Aye-yi-yi-yi, I said
Louie Louie, oh baby
Me gotta go

Fine little girl waits for me
Catch a ship across the sea
Sail that ship about, all alone
Never know if I make it home

CHORUS

Three nights and days I sail the sea
Think of girl, constantly
On that ship, I dream she's there
I smell the rose in her hair.

CHORUS

See Jamaica, the moon above
It won't be long, me see me love
Take her in my arms again
Tell her I'll never leave again

CHORUS

But, sung correctly nobody will ever know!
