A Hubertus man who fell off a bar stool while celebrating his 53rd birthday over the weekend was in critical condition Monday with head injuries, authorities said.

Ronald J. Limbach was knocked unconscious after falling Sunday evening at the Whiskey River tavern on Highway 175 in Hubertus, said Sgt. Martin Schulteis of the Washington County Sheriff's Department.

Limbach was taken to Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital in Wauwatosa

As Lewis Black said when he was here at UWSP: "If the French had given the Statue of Liberty to Wisconsin instead of New York, you would have cut off her torch and made it so that she was holding a mug of beer in one hand and a brandy old fashioned in the other!"
