Will telemarketers receive cell phone numbers to call?
I received an email today urging me to put my cell phone number on the national Do Not Call list. Here's the email:

JUST A QUICK REMINDER..In 31 days , cell phone
numbers are
being released to telemarketing companies and you will
start to
receive sale calls. You will be charged for these
calls. Call this
number from your cell phone 1-888-382-1222. It is the
national DO NOT
CALL list. It only takes a minute of your time. It
blocks your number
for 5 years. Please pass this on to everyone you know
who doesn't want
to be hassled. You may also register online at

http://www.donotcall.gov/

I went ahead and registered my cell number since I don't think it could hurt, but has anyone heard about this? I want to know if this is true or not.

So it appears you have to opt-in to have them call your cell.

4. One thing about all of this.
Snopes is correct but I do see one hitch in this; number portability. Suppose my current land-line number is on a number of telemarketers lists. Now suppose that I move that number to a cellphone. How would the marketers know that they are now calling a cellphone and therefore shouldn't call?

5. Then I think you would have to register that number.
They wouldn't be held responsible for something that you did.
