What is the deal with Santa Barbara? Amazing apartments?
I am looking for an apartment for me and my dog in Santa Barbara. I have been offered a job, and have to make a decision.

Is there some wierd city code that makes a guest house not a studio apartment? I mean it seems there are many "studios" with no bathroom, and no kitchen. They are in the main house.

They want $1000.00 a month for a separate detached "studio" but you have to use the main house facilities. Also these studios are 15x15 it seems.

Does anybody know the reason for this? Craig's List has been very helpfull but...a cool grand for a 15x15 room with no bathroom or even a hotplate?

Check out #2...#74, #80, #100, #126, #137, #142

That should answer at least part of your question...

4. It's almost shameless. I mean a grand for a room?
How do you with a sraight face ask for first and last, and a pet deposit for a grand for studio apartments that have no bathroom or a microwave?

I am rethinking accepting the job offer....
