The Keep, horror movie set during WWII in a German outpost.

Ran, Akira Kurosawa's visual masterpiece. Like painting on screen.

Akira, One of the classic gateway movies for Anime fans.

Runaway Train, Script by Akira Kurosawa. Testimony to the human spirit.

...is Wicked City (1987). There are some series I like as much, but no other movie has come close, IMHO.

starring Vanessa Redgrave and her daughter Joely Richardson.

A thought-provoking film about alienation and living in the past.

Hardly anyone saw it at the time, and I haven't seen it on DVD yet. It's a shame, because it was a very intellectually stimulating film.
