David Hasselhoff, "International Star Of The Year" (Bollywood "Oscars")
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7696864/

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. - India’s version of the Oscars were handed out at the glittering Bollywood movie award ceremony on Saturday that saw a veteran director sweep the top honors and U.S. actor David Hasselhoff named international star of the year.

Bollywood churns out around 1,000 movies a year but despite a fan base that extends to the Middle East, Europe and Asia, few movies make money and the industry is under financial pressure. Bollywood films have not had much commercial success in America.

Hasselhoff received the award for best international star because his successful television series are among the most popular on Indian television.

1. They don't even kiss in Bollywood films
from what I hear. There in no way they can compete with HBO :)

4. No, they don't kiss - would offend the audience
Even though the women in their films wear fairly sheer and sexy saris, etc., they won't show a lip-to-lip kiss; the most they'll show is two people's lips coming daringly near, then the music whirls them away.

I LOVE Bollywood movies and have seen many of them; my husband is Pakistani, and that's how I got to know the genre. I can make some recommendations if anyone is interested.

6. But there was a scandalous kiss in "Hum Tum".

I was shocked, I tell you, shocked...
;-)

In Atlantic City, Rani Mukherjee won the best actress award for her role in that film.
