I Will Forgive George Lucas for Episodes I & II if...
Episode III opens with a scene of Jar Jar Binks getting decapitated by a light saber.

How 'bout the rest of you?

3. Word on the street generally comes from Fanboys
Edited on Fri Apr-29-05 02:35 PM by Sandpiper
And tends to be less than trustworthy.

I don't want to raise my expectations based on word on the street, and end up disappointed again (i.e. Attack of the Clones).

19. Yes, but how did Smith like Eps 1 & 2?
I scanned his orgasmic review of Episode 3, and he basicaly said that people who doubted Lucas will be proven wrong... nowhere did he mention what he thought of Eps 1 & 2? For all I know, he could have been equally ecstatic watching Phantom Menace & Attack of the Clones?

22. He referred to people who panned Eps I & II as "Haters"
Which is fanboy talk for everyone who dared find fault with Menace and Clones.

8. Face it...Star Wars geeks will say they love Episode 3 no matter what...
Edited on Fri Apr-29-05 02:37 PM by vi5
Honestly, I don't think they could bear to admit that Episode 3 will prove once and for all that the object of their slavish devotion and time consuming obsession has been nothing but a complete and utter waste of their lives. And admitting that Episode 3 is bad is tantamount to admitting just that.

This movie could consist of nothing more than the members of N'Sync dressed in Jar Jar Binks costumes, setting fire to and dancing around the blazing embers of the only remaining untouched prints of the original 3 movies, and the fan boys/girls are still going to say that it was great.

13. Considering I'm one of those geeks
the fact is you are right. Sort of. The actual truth is that Star Wars has gone way beyond the movies for fans, and while movie fans whine and bitch, Star Wars fans know that a 2 hour movie that represents about a years worth of story in a story arc that spans over 1000 years doesn't represent much to them. That said I have read the ROTS book and this is without a doubt the best SW ever. At least for the "fans".

9. And if there's a scene of Natalie Portman showering,
a nice, long, shower with lots of dropping of soap and bending over to pick it up, and then, maybe, her friend Buffy the Vampire Slayer coming to help her out and scrub each other down... then Lucas can do whatever he wants in the other 15 minutes of the film.

14. mmmmm, closer, mmmmmmm........
Portman plays a striper in a really twisted film about desire and deceit. She shows off her perfect rump in a thong.

16. I heard that movie was all bark and no bite.....
That's just based off of interviews where Natalie Portman tried to spin her cold feet by saying that at the last minute she decided it would be more crucial to the character (a stripper) if she didn't appear without close on or in provocative scenes.

Riiight.

Which was by FAR the best of the original 3.

17. I didn't care for Episode I
But I really liked Episode II.

I think Episode III is going to be the bomb.

There's nothing to forgive. Each one stands on its own merits.

20. I liked Ep 2
if you took out all the lovey dovey crud and CGI fruit.

The scenes with Obi-Wan were killer.

23. The fight in the Asteroid Belt, the Mass Battle sequence and
Fight with between Dooku and Yoda were the bomb.

As far as the romance sequence, remember that twins are to be born from this union.

It's only natural.

The betrayal will put a different light on the relationship.

24. I always wondered about the fruit.
Does George Lucas have an aversion to showing his characters eating?

I think he shows eating maybe twice in the first three films. And it's usually hurried on-the-run kind of stuff with military rations. Guess a nice feast would have slowed the action down.

But the fruit in "Clones". Why was it CGI?

26. Episode II had good moments
Obi-Wan as the sleuth, the debris field, Geonosis battle, etc.

What kept it from being a great film was: worst script in the entire series, by a mile.

Star Wars films have never exactly been known for their brilliant dialogue, but Clones just had too many cringe inducing lines.

"I hate sand, it's coarse and irritating...not like you."

18. I read the Kevin Smith review.
It sounds incredible but I am still worried that it cannot possibly live up to its hype.
After saying that, I will still be there on opening night.

Good or bad. I think it's going to be good. And I want to see how Master Windu meets his end. Even though I know how already, I just want to see it with my eyes.

28. Just saw a new (to me, anyway) trailer tonight at the theater
Holy Shit it looks good!! And not just the eye-candy kind of good of the first two movies, but it looks *actual* good!!

'course, there's always the chance that they took the two minutes of good stuff and made a trailer out of it, but this time, I really don't think so.

I think this one is gonna work out just fine.

And Palpatine is fuckin' AWESOME!
