How much would you be willing to lift from work?
Oh, maybe a couple of paper clips and some envelopes.

Sorry, couldn't resist...

2. That's a question
on a pre-employment exam that a lot of companies use....

they also ask if you would turn in a fellow employee for stealing...

whenever I was asked to take one of those tests, I took it but turned down the job.....

6. Do you remember if that was the Reid test?
I took that test way back in 1976. That same question was on it. It also had the same questions asked several times in different ways. I did take the job, and for the most part, it was a pretty good one. After working there for several years, I got a good enough confort level with the managers to tell them that I felt it enabled them to hire clever crooks, not honest people!

I still believe that. I recommended a girl for a job at my conpamy once. She failed the test. I checked with HR, and found out that when they asked if you saw your mother steal a bottle of asprin, would you turn her in, and she said no. As I said, they were getting clever crooks. I don't care what was said on the test, it's 1 in a million who would turn ANYBODY in for stealing a bottle of asprin!!!!

10. Yes, I think that's the name
and I agree....it's only 1 in a million who would turn a fellow worker in for stealing a bottle of asprin.....

I did turn my boss supervisor in for fudging his expense reports....he was really so obvious about it...he would sit at his desk with HOS OWN credit card imprint machine (without a vendor plate on it..he bought it at a garage sale) and then fill in the names and amounts to make the total dollars MATCH THE DRAW against his expense account....the poor kid checking the expense reports was literally just off the farm and didn't think anything was wrong with those receipts until I pointed out to her that each receipt number was in exact sequence....(92341, 92342, 92343, etc)

13. Well, that idiot deserved what he got! Stupid too!!!
You know, most dishonest people get caught because they do really dumb things. The other tip should have been that the vendor info was always hand written.

I've been through catching all kinds of things like this during my career. It's amazing the creativity of some people.

9. Oddly, that question discriminates against the overly-moral
If you answer that you have not/would not steal anything from work, you're assumed to be lying. So if you are the kind of weirdo who actually doesn't take office supplies, you have to lie and say you would.

11. It also discriminates against the overly-slacking...
I mean... Unless I worked at a mint. Why would I want anything
I spend 9 hours of my life avoiding around my home?

I think they're a mite paranoid.

Son: Dad, I need to borrow the forklift.
Dad: Sure, it's parked over on aisle 6.
Son: Aisle 6?
Dad: You know, in plumbing and electrical.

But, I exaggerate.

16. And against those who prefer high-quality office products!
Why would I take Bics when I have a bunch of Pilot Precise V5's around the house?

12. I've taken some post-it notes
but only one pad. Oh, and a whole lot of pens. But the pens have our business name/address/phone number on them, and it's a car dealership, so that's okay, because when I'm at a restaurant and they're like "oh I don't have a pen" I can be "Oh well, you can have mine."

15. I take pens, but not on purpose...
...I just forget I have them in my shirt pocket. Don't ever get a reputation at the office as a pen thief.
