What's in YOUR wallet? My C-1 rant...
A couple of months ago, I get a pre approved offer from capitol one. It looks fairly decent, pre-approved for 4000 dollars, balance transfers at 0% for a year, nothing fishy in the fine print, shitty rate, but I wasn't planning on actually using it for anything but transferring a couple balances, and paying them off over the next three months.

Well. I get the card, and transfer a couple of outstanding balances from some other higher rate cards I had. Not huge transfers, about 1200 dollars and change off of a Visa I was getting ready to cancel, and about 400 off of a JCP card I used for xmas shopping. A week later I check my statements, and only 200 was taken off of each. I call customer:rofl: service. So after about a half hour of navigating that cluster-fuck of a phone tree:argh: getting transferred twice :eyes:and sitting on hold for ten or so minutes:boring: I finally get a real live person(thank you for calling Sanjay in Bombay, how may I abuse you today?).

I tell them the deal, and they proceed to tell me that I only have a limit of 400 dollars.:wtf: I tell them about the offer, and he tells me it must have been a typo, and they accidentally slipped an extra zero on the form :eyes:but if they want, they can run my credit again, and see if I get approved for the higher limit. What a deal! :woohoo:all I have to do is give all my personal info to some stranger in a third world call center over an unencrypted phone line.:dilemma: So anyhow, I like my identity to belong only to me, so I decline. I write C-1 a check for the entire amount the following week, and figure when I get around to it I'll call them up that great call center again :banghead: and cancel the card.

Ok, fast forward a month and a half. I get busy and forget that I have the card:boring: This morning I get an email from them that I am two weeks late on my payment of.................$0.00. :spank: So I call customer:rofl: service navigate the phone tree:argh: get put on hold :boring: and hook up with Bombay again, to cancel the card."Yes, can you cancel the card please? Yes, Cancel it...No I mean CANCEL it...no I don't want to do a survey...NO I don't need a special offer....LOOK I DON'T WANT YOUR GOD DAMN CARD ANYMORE!!!!!!!!":argh:

SO anyhoo, I look at the email I got from them, and notice that it is not an auto-generated, and I can actually do a reply. Nothing big or snotty, just: "Thanks for the email. It was unnecessary since I have a zero dollar balance, but you did remind me that I need to call your service center and cancel the card. By the way, David Spade sucks."

But the 'pre-approval' letter does not say a credit line of $4000.00...It's says 'up to $4000.00', get those all the time. Got one from Cap One on tuesday. And no, I don't work for Cap One.

The CSR probably said your $4000.00 letter was a typo to avoid getting yelled at and spilting hairs for an hour.

8. I've written 3 times to cancel a Chase card but they keep sending checks
for me to sign that will re-open the account.

I don't want checks to keep coming in the mail! I have written twice and returned the torn-up checks - asking to have the account CANCELLED and to STOP SENDING CHECKS.

I got a brand new batch of checks this week!

Any suggestions? I really want this to stop.

10. You can go to the library, and there are actual junk mail stop forms...
...that you can fill out and send to places that you do not want to receive mail from anymore.

14. Yes! Mail them back...
Un-opened with "RETURN TO SENDER."

They'll soon grow tired of spending $$ for re-mailings. Remember, their bottom line is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

Change the address to their billing address and then have them mail the checks to themselves...LOL....

Good Luck...

9. OK, so I work for a company affiliated with the CC industry and we get
payments all the time from the card execs, usually paying w/their own brand.

So a couple of weeks ago I was processing a payment from a guy at Crapital One w/his Crapital One card. It was declined.

So I got to call him and say, "Your Crapital One card was DECLINED. What ELSE do you have in your wallet?"

16. Excellent report!
I was a supervisor in a credit card call center. Best fucking job I ever quit, but what an education I got.

Folks, NEVER use credit cards unless you absolutely have to.

Just use your debit card; better yet, join a credit union.

20. Congrats
now stay that way. Here's what I've learned from working at a bank.

1) joint accounts are never good...someone always screws up the account or divorce.

2) don't order crap on T.V that is free for three months...you will pay and NSF fees, too!

There is more, but I'm clocking out!

13. Same thing happened here! & Out-of-Country Service People
Know how you feel. Went thru the same damn thing myself!

Since Nov 3rd Chimp Re-Steal of Election:

Sears: Thought of buying an appliance from them. They took my info and an out-of-country rep called w/horrible English. I was floored. Repeatedly saying, "you're not here in America?" "You're not an American?" "And Sears, the one near me has you calling me, here in America to schedule a service all?"

Cross Country Credit Card Bank: Do not get these folks. Bad, bad... law suits of the ying-yang. My attorney took care of them. They decided they were closing-up Master-Card and wanted their money ASAP.

Ran a search on Google and low and behold there were plenty of lawsuits nationwide hitting the dockets, over the same exact complaint.

Sears and Capitol One are REPUBLICAN supporters. Live & learn.
