A question for DU nurses?
I am an ex-USN medic, Have an MSW now, operated cell savers in surgery, ex rehab tech, know how to circulate OR cases and currently wotk with MH population. I want to get my RN, the problem is I suck at math and have never passed a math class. In undergrad after my fifth time, I think they felt sorry for me and waived the requirment. I also made deans list in both undergrad and grad

Any ideas on the math problem.

1. Do you have a local community
college in your area?

Here in Austin they actually have courses that pertain to RN state regs. Right before I took my RN, I went and studied there for almost 8 weeks prior to testing, it made it alot less daunting!

Good luck to you! The world really does need more RN'S!

3. I had the same problem
so I ended up with a tutor. I don't know why I can't cut it with numbers but you stick them in front of my face and my mind goes blank. I would guess if they had had the programs when I was a kid I would have been classified LD in math.

Anyway, I used the tutor to get through the classes I needed. I re-signed with the tutor when I needed him for getting through the nursing requirements. They were not too hard once you got it.

If I can do it anyone can.

5. student tutor
I was taking my pre requisite courses at a local community college and it took me 3 semesters to finally "get" the algebra. Thanks to a great teacher and a student tutor on the side I finally passed it. In high school I had taken the business courses (a hundred years ago) learning algebra was like learning Greek to me. good luck!!
