:donut: I haven't done a morning thread in awhile, so I decided it was time to pull it out of hibernation. How is everyone this morning? Sleepiness is trying to consume me, but I'm strong damnit! :D Weather's cold and yucky so it's a perfect day to crawl back into bed.

topped with wensleydale with cranberries, plus venison pate on a ciabatta roll. I'm having a 'real-food' kick, having realised that the pre-made and pre-packaged food not only tastes like plastic, but also costs ridiculously much - I doubt that it will last long as it requires the fore-sight to buy the food stuff earlier...

Have you got a good lunch, or something similar to look forward to?

You can take solace in the fact that as much as you hated taking those tests, most teachers hated giving them. The ACT and SAT, of course, would help you get into college--a necessary evil. This crap, however, is just another poorly designed state assessment that will do nothing but enrich the testing companies and give the state another reason to flog Illinois schools.

20. Long time no see or read rather

Have a great day as well. I'm trying to cut down on my coffee intake though. I think my body is having the opposite effect that I would like with so much caffeine. I get a real quick bump then I crash. Argh!!!!! Anyhow, as long as I keep moving I'm okay. I think today will be fine. I'll be giving a presentation all day so I'll be busy.

25. Life is stressful.

At school now it is state testing time; a completely meaningless time really since the state and the federal government put all their eggs in one basket to assess kids; a snapshot of one kid on one day is NOT representative of what that kid can do. Performance ratings are based on these scores so people are stressed.

Finances...stressful. We came up short in the bank account this month. Thank God today is pay-day. Texas teachers are not getting raises this legislative session but the politicians gave themselves a raise. How's that for caring about education? Yes, it is the rethuglican controlled government here in my great state.

On the other side, my kids are great. My wife is wonderful; she just got a new job 10 minutes from our home. That will save on gas greatly. I still have an hour commute. I'm up for a promotion, but it requires more graduate school all this summer. :( I love being a teacher; hate being a student. ;) That's all for now.
