Al Dente Spaghetti
Are you sure you know what this means? It is a very delicate determination. It's chewy, but not tough. It's soft enough, but not squishy. It's palatable, but not confectionary.

I happen to be an expert.

Let me know if you have any questions.

1. No questions, just a reminisce
My mom used to throw a strand of spaghetti on the wall when cooking; the rate it slithered down determined how close to done it was.

3. My father was Italian and would never order pasta (we called
it macaroni) in a restaurant because it never was al dente.

Do you know how to tell whether it's al dente? Throw a piece of spaghetti up against the wall. If it sticks...that's al dente.

8. I agree with your father. Restaurant pasta is usually inedible mush.

4. My dear Floogeldy! How are you on this fine evening?

No questions from this girl! Just a comment: I prefer my pasta just a tiny hair more cooked than al dente...just a Tiny hair! Al dente strikes me as not quite done enough...but that's just me...

And I'm editing to add that I'm sure that you're an expert! You strike me as the type that would research whatever you're doing VERY thoroughly...!

6. Achievable by microwave?
I've learned how to make microwave al dente pasta boiling....it's easy to make it overcooked, but I think I got it there....

7. Doesn't it take just as long . . .
to cook it in the microwave as on top of the stove? (I haven't used a microwave in so long that I've forgotten whether it was convenient to have one.)

9. I gain about 2-3 minutes by microwave
I get the water hot then put the pasta in, return to microwaving. It is slightly faster, but really prone to overcooking....
