Miracle in Greenville, SC. (SIRIUS)
Sirius's lung cancer is gone. On St. Valentine's day he was given 4-8 weeks to live. We were told that once cancer got into a dogs lungs, it was almost impossible to treat. We were told that there was an outside chance and that, given his good health and happy disposition, chemo might be a viable option. I said, "Do it!"
He still has his primary tumor, but it is marginally smaller. He has one more chemo on Adriamycin, then they will look for a more effective drug for the prostate tumor. Radiation might be an option. He is doing extremely well, and that is the news.

4. That's GREAT!!! Was the chemo hard on him?
I know most of the time it's very hard on people, and I had never heard of them giving doggies chemo before. He looks like such a happy bay, I hope he gets completely well!!!

5. No, it was/is a piece of cake.
He lost some of his beautiful snout mustache and beard, but that will come back. Dogs tolerate chemotherapeutic drugs much better that humans. I'll be a walking, talking advocate of chemotherapy for certain canine cancers. What a great decision and outcome. However, it has been expensive. I would guess that I have spent nearly $4000 on this veterinary problem. Maybe more.
