I've yet to see the cult favs Donnie Darko or Secreatary, but i always thought she was funny and adorable as the little satanist girl in Cecil B Demented

what she said wasn't even provocative-it kills me that Booshvoters are so beyond the capacity for critical thought that this is deemed controversial

Actress Maggie Gyllenhaal is standing firm on some controversial remarks she made about the September 11th terror attacks at the TriBeCa Film Festival premiere of her latest movie.

Gyllenhaal told NY1's George Whipple Friday that the United States was partly responsible for the 9/11 attacks.

"I think it allows it to be more complicated than just 'Oh, look at these poor New Yorkers and how hard it was for them,' because I think America has done reprehensible things and is responsible in some way, and so I think the delicacy with which it's dealt with allows that to sort of creep in," said the actress.

A wave of criticism followed that statement, including angry comments on a website devoted to Gyllenhaal. The actress responded through her publicist Monday.

2. You're really missing out. Both are quite good.

Her brother's the lead character in Donnie Darko (hmm, actually, I didn't even realize she was in it. Saw it awhile ago though), and Secretary is good as well. For one thing, it rekindled my "James Spader is hot" feeling.
