I thought old school was 80s shit. Like I'm an old school Metallica fan. I guess 90s shit is old school to people who are like 16 or 18 years old. Their all about Nickelback now.

It could be that I'm not very well versed in old school. I'm 32. But when heavy metal freaks and rappers talk about old school I think they are usually referring to that crazy shit that went down in the Reagan years. Hardcore rap and revolutionary metal. All those dudes were singing about the same thing. The delivery was just different. Now we can go back to the real old school and talk about 40s jazz and 30s blues, but even those guys had their predecessors.

I was a head banger and a boomer back in the day. But I've often heard the 80s punk bands referred to as post-punk as if saying the best days for punk were done and gone. Could well be the case for all I know.
