Mobile phone prank catches man's head in bin
The fire brigade performed an unusual rescue overnight, having to cut a man free from a metal garbage bin in Fitzroy, in Melbourne's inner north.

Eighteen-year-old John, from Drouin, south-east of Melbourne, became stuck in the bin after his friend threw his mobile phone in and he tried to go after it.

"I thought it was more funny than embarrassing then but now I see the embarrassing side," he said.

"I've got a little bit of grazing on my neck, but I'm pretty good.

"We tried reaching it with various things but it came down to me trying to reach through it further and I could reach through it, I just couldn't get out," he told Triple J.

Firemen tried to lubricate the man's head then use the jaws of life, but eventually had to saw the top of the bin from around the man's neck.
