Today I was accepted into a Women's Writing program in England!
I'm soooo excited. They only accepted 20 women --- and I was one!
I'm all pins and needles and smiles.
Just thought I'd share.
Nobody's home. Me 'n the dog. Husband's in Boston (no, not with the DUers)... son's in China. Me mum's in Hawaii (thought I'd try out an accent).

I'm thinking of cracking open a bottle of wine. Toast myself.

I feel a shopping trip comin' on.... the dollar sucks in Europe, but I can always hit TJMaxx here.

I like to go shopping when I want to celebrate too. Congratulations.

3. Hey! Welcome to DU!
I know...the shopping thing isn't too viable here in the Vermont woods. But once in a while I have to break out and BUY something chick and deboner. Or, at least not from the Land's End catalog. Altho they do make comfy, "nice" clothes.

2. That's wonderful, DrZeeLit
I imagine that you had to submit some writing to get considered. What did you send them?

5. Yes. I sent them a chapter of my novel and some poetry.
This program is more in the creative end of writing. So glad, because I get bogged down in the academic.

Thanks for the kind words.

8. Thanks. In July. Doing some time in Glastonbury. Then London.
I haven't been to London since the early 90's.
Darn the dollar. Maybe I can get somebody else to buy the ale, eh?

11. Sounds wonderful
I've never been anyplace more exotic than Vancouver. I'd love to see Glastonbury Tor.

Tell them at the pub that your president is a trained monkey and your country is a bankrupt laughingstock and you'd surely appreciate it if some kind soul would console you with a pint. :)

54. I didn't notice any attitude towards us at all,
one way or the other.

London's a big city, and is made up primarily of tourists. :)

But I've never been treated badly in Europe, in general.

55. Thanks. I agree. I've always been treated great in Europe, even France..
...and that's the place to which I most travel. I love it. And never a problem.

I guess it's a matter of MY attitude.
Always upbeat, optimistic, and in awe.

16. Thanks for the kind words. July.
Semester is winding down. I don't give a final so I'm done by May 10.

Then I'm starting an ARTIST'S WAY group for the summer (don't get paid if I don't find something to do).

Now, I'll have to give my group some time off.

I'm sure they'll be happy for the break.

Still, I'm pondering whether to cart the laptop.

31. And thanks for sharing a very cool congratulatory moment
with us!!

The dog and kitty pic is precious. That's about as cute as it gets.

You didn't ask for advice so disregard if not interested,

but, if you are an internet person and/or email person, the laptop is one of those no option deals. If not, no sweat and it might be nice to get away from being so connected to everything.

Either way, have a terrific time and give us the lowdown when you get back!!

51. Thanks. Yes, I hear you on that score. I'm hoping, singlehandedly, to
begin the repair of our tarnished image.

Maybe we all have to go (what a sacrifice) -- it's a one-on-one project.
So, we'll all pick different nations (next, I want a beachfront somewhere)... and we'll go out to spread the word that we're not all bad and that maybe someday the nation will regain it's sanity. Til then, we'll just hold hands and sing Kumbaya.

Worth a try? Maybe we could write it off? Gotta be more important work than Delay playing golf at St. Andrews. (I'll bet that pissed off some really good golfers. What waste)

Anyway, thanks, and rest assured I'll be doing my bit over there.
(sounds like WWI, huh?)
