1. No
I remember the first Earth Day. I think I was in sixth grade, around 1968. I remember Earth Day was 4/22, the same day as a friend's birthday.
The stoner thing you're talking about started much later, like 80's or so.

We had actually an "Earth Week"......we booed Senate Minority Leader Hugh Scott (R-Pa) at Independence Plaza and later in the week 30,000 gathered at the Belmont Plateau off of City Line Avenue in Philly. Sen. Ed Muskie spoke.

Shi-ite!:hippie: B-) :smoke: those WERE the days my friend!

5. We Walked and for five miles with signs and picked up
garbage here in Cleveland. I was in sixth grade as well. Made the front page of the local paper and started my long strange trip in political la la land....

Twenty years later I am an organizer for the local Green Party, the treasurer actually, and suggested we celebrate the twentieth anniversary of ED by reenacting the march and clean up and was over ruled by the artistic wing of the party who wanted to dress up like worms and dance outside of the BP building in downtown Cleveland....

I returned to the democratic party shortly there after.........
