They won't leave it, you sign for it. You could wind up missing a day of work. I try to get my stuff delivered by other companies.

10. OK, you got me started.
I am sure the UPS delivery people are hard workers and that the company's expectations about timeliness, etc., make the work itself especially grueling.

But get this: every year, my family in the U.S. sends me a giant Christmas package filled with all my favorite "stuff" from the states. And every year, for five years, the area Swiss UPS guy has called me before delivery, and asked me whether I could meet him at the train station half an hour away, because delivering to my village would disrupt his schedule. I have always accomodating his hectic holiday delivery schedule.

Last Christmas, after meeting the UPS guy to pick up my package as requested, I gave him a 20-franc tip (I dunno, $15 USD or close to it) . . . And then, 30 days, later, I got a bill for about 15 percent of the value of the contents of my package. "Taxes," the bill said.

End. Of. Rant.

11. Yes the all too familiar Tax letter .
When I was living in Germany , one year my mother sent me a birthday package . It took more than the expected time for the package to reach me . My mom paid like $15O USD for the package to be sent to be as quickly as possible . 30 days 30 , I got a letter in the mail talking about taxes / customs tax ( some mess like that ) that I had to pay for . I think my ex-bf paid $ 200 USD ( 400 Deustche Mark ) at the time . I never use UPS to send packages . I only end up using them if I order something online and then I have no idea that the company uses UPS . Let stop complaining before I have another UPS story to share .

In theory gifts are tax exempt; but the whole paperwork really is a poor joke. Recently I tried to get a poster stateside - I succeeded, but it wasn't fun.

7. I usually pick it up myself.
They won't hold for pickup until they've made one delivery attempt, though.

14. I know, isn't that crazy? My UPS experiences....
You can call them, and tell them you won't be home when the package is supposed to arrive, yet they can't hold it at the station for you unless there's been a delivery attempt.

They can't leave the shipment at my door being in an apartment complex, yet they've left it with apartment neighbors on another level. neighbors who I don't know and have never met without my confirmation. (Who were gone for days when i tried to retrieve it from them)

I also had a package being shipped OVERNIGHT to a work account in Towson, MD. Instead the package wound up in Tuscon, AZ. When the mistake was discovered they said that the incorrect address was written on it. (Which when i received the package I found out was not true at all) Then, instead of overnighting the package to Towson, MD from Arizona, they had to deliver it by ground shipment because it's company policy when there's an incorrect address. I received my overnight package over a week after it was shipped.

Makes me want to scream sometimes..... :)...glad my company uses FedEx more often. I've had SO fewer problems.

13. Mr Mizmoon and I live near a UPS sorting facility
twice in the last few years we have seen trucks leave their facility with the back door of the truck still open. Packages are falling out of the back of the truck while the driver just keeps driving.

The first time we caught up with the driver at a light and he seemed annoyed to be told of the problem. The second time we called their main facility but the CSR was so confused by what we were trying to tell her that we gave up.

And yeah, traffic was stopped with people grabbing packages and pulling them into their cars.
