6. Late news
The band I'm in is playing next weekend and, since our regular drummer is touring Europe with his more important band, we're using a substitute. He's got one of those band rehearsal rooms in one of those rabbit warrens where they chopped an old warehouse into fifty little rooms, and you can hear half a dozen other bands. So we had just finished packing up our guitars, and then we heard some other band launch into "Baba O'Riley"-- and just butcher it: too slow, bass line's wrong, violin solo is replaced by the lamest headbanger cliche guitar licks...

So we pulled out the acoustics, and started playing and singing early Who for the next two hours: "Tattoo," "A Quick One While He's Away," "I Can See for Miles," "Going Mobile," etc. It was wonderful fun.

I wanna start a band to do shameless '60s psychedelic revivalism, but just the nasty or bummer songs: "See for Miles," "Born to be Wild," "Helter Skelter," "Sympathy for the Devil," the Doors' "Soul Kitchen" et al. This band will probably be called The Altamonts.

10. Tattoo is a great song. Pop music at it's best
My band playes "A Quick one" when we do a gig here and there, and people freak out over that one.

7. Nothing is planned by the sea and the sand
God I haven't listened to that album in about 2 million years. Good choice.

9. Have they finally thrown you out?
Is your old man drunk on stout?

Is he having trouble standing on his feet as he lectures you about morality?

God, I love some of Townshend's lyrics.
