The woman told me that they have been having a lot less donations lately, I guess due to changes in tax laws??.

It was a great car, it still runs and I hope they get a good price for it.

1. not the tax laws but the

squeeze on the middle class. my local charity shop has seen a drop off of quality items in the last two years. more economic miracles from bush

2. Good for you! I don't think there was a change in the law, but in the

enforcement of it. People were claiming way too much as a sticker price on their write-offs, and the IRS was going to start looking at that more closely.

You have to write off the value the car actually brings in for the charity. It used to be you could claim whatever (optimistic) blue book value you chose.
