Poetry group initiative
I don't know if you all will go for this seeing as how we already have a writer's forum. But several of us got together last night on a poetry thread and a few of us thought that a group devoted to poetry would be cool. Here's the first draft of a mission statement:

The Poetry group is for all members who are interested in writing, reading, and talking about poetry. The group is meant to be a place where we can talk constructively about each other's poems as well as discuss poetry by other authors ranging from the obscure to the classics.

That's all I can think of right now. Let me know if you want to add to or edit the statement.

13. I'm doing wonderful, thank you.
I'm having a few beers and contemplating love. I haven't been in love since I was 17 and I'm 32 now. But there's this woman I've been conversing with who makes me feel all squishy inside. She lives a 1000 miles away, but I'm going to get to meet her in person this fall. I can't wait :toast:

...you may use my endorsement, as a pledge of support. That and a cup of coffee, will probably get you nowhere, but I'll help if I can....

I think a poetry group would be very fun. It's a good chance to have others see your work and what good is poetry if nobody reads it?

I think we'll get it passed. I started the thread late at night when hardly anybody is on and I got four people to commit so I think we are going to be cool.

21. Yes
A poem unread is not a poem but just words on a paper screaming loud "Read me read me."

Darn it.

It would be fun.

23. Hey Heidi
A google search tells me I did not read 'Howl'. Now I will have to see if it is at the library. (Alan Ginsberg).

JitterbugPerfume just now tells me it is a 'Cool' poem.

27. The light of your proposal brings joy to my heart
A word, a seemingly benign thing, alone in its singularity and devoid of context, it could be the height of banality.

But many words, or even a select few, could heighten the consciousness and bring fullness to the spirit... A walk in a meadow of the sublime.

The warmth and sincerity of your words could be the spark that ignites the flames of ideas, a passion of words, a salve to the troubled heart and soul.

Bring forth your well worn words, my friends. Bring forth, within this hallowed hall, the strength of words... Words that expand the comprehension, that shines a glimmering light on us all.
