Firefox help needed!
I upgraded to the latest build on Firefox and now all of a sudden I keep getting these error messages when I try to load websites:

"http://google.com (for example) could not be found. Please check the name and try again."

:wtf: It's happening on a lot of websites I try to go to, but not all.

Help?

1. What did those builds include?

2. I've had much better results using...
the standard Mozilla:
http://www.mozilla.org/releases/mozilla1.7.7/

I tried FireFox and had error issues also.

9. I seem to be using Mozilla 1.5.
(Best of 2003) Is there any reason I should update? I'm satisfied with the Mozilla I have.

4. No changes have occured to my connection whatsoever.
Unless Firefox made some changes when I installed the new build.

5. A few suggestions ...
When you installed the latest build, did you uninstall the old version first or did you install the new version over the old? Some people have reported problems when they installed a new version over an old one, so if that's what you did ... backup your profile and uninstall, then reinstall. That may help.

Did you install any new extensions? The "Tweak Network" extension can mess things up if it's not set correctly. A few other extensions can also interfere with the connection if they're not configured properly.

If you installed the new version of Firefox over the old one ... did you have extensions prior to installing the new build? If so, you may need to reinstall those extensions because many don't work if you install over the old version of the browser and that can mess things up as well.

6. Thanks, I think I did install the new build over the old one.
Is there a simple way to back up my profile, so I can reinstall clean?

7. Here is what I do whenever I upgrade Firefox builds.
Others probably have a better method, but this way works for me.

1. Click Start > Run > Type in %AppData%

2. Copy the Mozilla folder (this is your profile with all of your
extensions, etc.) to a convenient location - Desktop or My
Documents.

3. Uninstall old version of Firefox.

4. Install new version.

5. Click Start > Run > Type in %AppData%

6. You can rename the new Mozilla folder you find there and save it
("Mozilla1", etc.) or do what I do - pitch it in the trash.

7. Copy over or simply drag 'n drop your previously backed up Mozilla
folder from where you stored it - Desktop or My Documents.

8. Voila! Your old profile with all of your extensions and themes is
now installed to the new version of Firefox.

I have done this several times when upgrading and have had no problems .
