Crystal Meth
Earlier this week, I posted a message for information on crystal meth. Thanks so much to all you wonderful DUers who responded.

Your advice and good thoughts helped more than you can ever know.

Now, I have some good news. The relative I mentioned is safe for now in a rehab hospital. She was picked up on a mental hygiene warrant, and so far it looks like we've started down the right path.

We know this won't be easy - but our eyes are open. This drug is the most frightening thing we have ever faced- but thanks to information some of you made available we know the size of the demon.

Please keep my darling niece in your prayers - and I keep you all in mine.

May the Higher Power of your choice bless you all...

Glad to hear she is in a rehab hospital, and I hope she can kick this thing.

I hope everyone in your family has a chance to exhale now.

5. The most important thing is...
Get her away from her friends when she gets out. That stuff is dirt cheap and they will offer it to her for free. It's a horrible drug, far worse than anything apart from crack, and perhaps worse.

Good luck. Meth is a death sentence.

7. Such good news; bless her in rehab!
She will be in my prayers.

I agree:
(1) meth is a death sentence - without intervention,
(2) she must be kept away from her old friends and habits when she comes out,
(3) she's so lucky to have family that cares so much about her, and
(4) getting well will take enormous motivation from within - you can really do her a favor by reminding her why she has to find that strength and stay motivated (her family).

Sorry to go on so long (I'm the retired social worker who picked up kids from the meth labs for seven years. Just the most addictive drug I've ever seen. But I'm so happy she is where she needs to be right now.

I'm praying she will realize all of the reasons she has to stay clean, and let go of any inner turmoil that led her to do that in the first place (sometimes it is to show parents who is in control and defy comformity). SHE will be one who is successful.

The moms and dads I knew that found the strength needed did so for their kids and their family.

Peace and Blessings,

8. Inner Turmoil
Thanks for your insight and wise words about the inner turmoil.

You are dead on - and it helps to have my thoughts about the "control" issues affirmed.

Didn't we all go through those "my way" times? But the things that face young adults now are so much more dangerous than we could ever imagine in our day.

I'm so sad for anyone who takes this drug and doesn't have someone willing to fight for them.

10. Bless you, Auntie!
Yes, it is a much more dangerous environment.

There was certainly nothing around like today's meth when I was that age!

11. That's great news
Crystal meth is the angel dust of the 21st Century. In fact, it's probably worse. Thank God something is happening NOW to intervene in this.

Hope all goes well for you. Thanks for posting the update. I was, frankly, worried.
