You make a good point... but I hardly think it would be appropriate for me to write to someone: "Please let me know if you have any other questions, just spam me at arwalden_du@xemaps.com, thanks."
... how odd it looked when I would see my grandmother write the word "today" as "to-day". And I recall when cooperate was a hyphenated word, "co-operate". (Frankly... I think that when it's written without the hyphen, it looks like it should be pronounced as COOPER-ate.)
