Where are all the anti-war protesters?
As I was saying my daily rosary for peace I was overcome by the visual horrors of the war in iraq.It literally brought me to tears.
Oddly the smashmouth song Walking on the Sun came on.(Twenty five years ago they spoke out and they broke out
Of depression and oppression and together they toked
And they folked out with guitars around a bon fire
Just singin' and clappin' man what the hell happened
Some were spell bound some were hell bound
Some they fell down and some got back up and
Fought back 'gainst the melt down
And their kids are hippie chicks and hypocrites ).
This made me wonder why there isnt as large if not larger backlash against Iraq as Vietnam.I saw there was a huge protest in Canada last week. Why arent the youth who are going to end up fighting this war for years to come as outraged as the youth of the 60s?
I am not trying to disrespect the courage of our current protesters just wondering why their numbers havent exploded.

1. The reason there hasn't been a huge anti-war movement in this
country yet is because the draft has not been instituted. People won't react unless it threatens their lives on a personal level.

2. Sadly it doesn't seem to matter to most how many are killed/maimed,
how much destruction is wrought. I would bet 100 to one those first cousins who have strongly supported every administration initiative will pull every string to keep their precious progeny out of the draft when it comes and it will come as surely as God makes little green apples in the summertime.

3. i marched in New Orleans at the Jazz Funeral for Democracy
and Awake For Peace, the first march had probably 2500+ protestors, and on the local Fox that night, they said maybe there were 200 there. They didn't even bother covering the second march.

the fact is, there are protests all over the country, i'm sure. but the NEW$ doesn't want to cover it.
