Our Lady of the Underpass?

Curiosity seekers joined the faithful today to view what some said was an image of the Virgin Mary at an underpass of the Kennedy Expressway on Chicago's Northwest Side, CLTV reported.

About 20 people were among the first to perceive the image shortly before midnight on a concrete wall of the Fullerton Avenue viaduct in the city's Bucktown neighborhood, officials said.

By this morning, television news crews were on the scene and media reports were spreading the word of the alleged apparition.

People milled about, taking photos and shooting video of what some were calling "Our Lady of the Underpass," WGN-Ch. 9 reported. Some prayed and set lighted candles and flowers at the base of the image...


Man...this could cause some real headaches for the city- the crowd down there tonite is HUGE...it borders on a fairly large latino area to boot. IDOT probably wants to paint it or sandblast it- but i'd like to see them try- they'd be assaulted by the mob.

5. Well, I'm a former Catholic

who now follows no religion, but I don't dislike Catholics or anything.

But at least with some of these images you can sort of see what they see.

Other than the oval shape of the form, I'm not getting it. Even the grilled cheese sandwich looked more Mary-like than that.

and I think these images are hilarious. My favorite was the face of Jesus in the plate of spaghetti on the Pizza Hut sign.

And you are right. This looks more like a glob of goo than anything else.

I'm asking because it IS an underpass, and I know who tend to inhabit underpasses. "Our Lady Of The Under-PISS" might be more accurate.
