I was a lurker for like 8 months (at least) and I always read GD. Now actually being a member, it's not that I get involved in confrotations there (because if I really disagree, I'm the type that just doesn't post), so I find myself in the Lounge most of the time. Oh well.

and debate. If I was pappalove I might think it out. GD is is most of what I have read and I am new here. It is really kinda like a mess.

I stay as far as possible from 'troublesome' threads (abortion threads for example), because people's views are too deeply held for any kind of meaningful discussion and the threads invariably degenerate into name-calling and outright flame-wars. When I detect an itching-for-a fight attitude in the tone of the original poster ("I hold this view, what the hell are you going to do about it ?"), I stay away as well.
