1. Irrelevant question because every note she sings is wonderful.
She is the ultimate charismatic vocalist.

4. I've gone through three cassettes of The Magazine
I bought it when I was in Jr High and I thought it was beyond cool. I was too young to appreciate her poeticism but I really dug the music.

5. on sundays, the ladies took off their wiry old hats
...and made donuts in the back of the church
you could always smell them cooking in the middle of mass...

i love that record.
i have it on lp, cassette and CD. for some reason, one of the songs is different on the CD version - i think.

8. It's just impossible to argue with her musicality. And her --
-- charisma. What a talent.

And the word around is that she is very easy to work with and treats other musicians with utmost courtesy and respect.

A class act, start to finish.

10. she's a little intense when she's performing
she's somewhat of a perfectionist, i think. but then, i have never worked with her, i've only hung out with her a bit -- and she has always been very very kind to me.

12. Progmom, if nobody else is jealous of your time with --
-- a talent like Rickie Lee Jones, then let ME be jealous.

I am so happy that you know her and have spent time with her.

I can accept the intensity in her stage demeanor, maybe because she is so flawless in the studio. Never had the chance to hear her live, but would like to.

One of my friends says that he listens to many artists but the only two he loves deeply are Rickie Lee Jones and Emmylou Harris.

3. It's great.
But is it better than her debut album or Pirates? Those two records are hard to surpass.

6. IMHO it's just as good and when you add to that
the message and politics, IT FUCKING ROCKS!!!

Tell Somebody (Repeal the Patriot Act) is my favorite cut.

7. i'm glad we agree!
i was in contact with RLJ a lot a few years ago - she even called me in the hospital when my kid was born (that was amazingly, freakily cool). she seemed really down - uninspired. but with the election of GWB in 2000, she came alive. have you visited her site? i think it's furnitureforthepeople.com
i've been a fan of rickie's for 20 years (holy crap...that is a long time, isn't it) since i first heard her in 8th grade. but to hear her so inspired and ready to work for change? amazing.

11. What a cool thing!
You actually know her! Hearing her puts my soul in the right place...I don't know how else to describe it. I've been frustrated about politics so much lately, it's wonderful to be able to hear her energy and frustration too. I haven't been to her website in a while, since her latest CD came out. I'd love to see her in concert. Does she have a DVD of a live performance? I'd buy it for sure.
