14. Oh, you silly!
I'm SO joking!!

People like those stickers because they look all jet-setty and European.

I love Europe. If I could I'd summer there every year. I speak several European language very poorly.

Kiss kiss! Once on each cheek! The Euro way!

My family used to have GB stickers, it was a half-decent way of meeting other British people, and then saying goodbye and never seeing them again :D

Those stickers originated in Europe as a way of identifying which country cars come from. I thought y'all knew that...

6. So they don't really serve any purpose?
I thought they identified regions in Canada or something. Do people stick them on as souvenirs of places they've been, or to identify where they live, or something? :dunce:

10. Overseas, you had to have them on your car
...if you crossed borders, so the cops would know where you came from. Half the license plates over there look alike, and it isn't easy to figure out where a vehicle came from just by looking at the plate. The initials represent the country.

Back in the old days, they weren't stickers. They were metal, about the same heft and thickness as a license plate, though smaller of course, and permanently affixed to the vehicle.

In the Atlanta area where all I see are the W stickers. Today I was behind a car that had W for President. Too bad it's against the law to rear end other cars.

25. They're stickers that are often used
when you're traveling by car and need a ferry crossing or some method of moving over water. The initials are the country depicting what country the car originated in.

GB Great Britain
IRE Ireland

I've seen quite a few, but don't remember them all. The German one, I believe, has a D on it for Deutschland.

I'm sure there are other uses of them, but the ferry one is the one I'm familiar with.

26. Tourist placename stickers
One big one in the Carolinas is OBX--Outer BanX. (Yes, normally it's spelled "Outer Banks.") The barrier islands off the Carolina coast.

Apparently you're supposed to buy one of these stupid things to commemorate your travels to a certain place...but just about everyone around here thinks you HAVE to run to the beach for your vacation, apparently there's some codicil in the NC constitution that says you are not allowed to vacation anywhere but at the beach, so bragging that you've been to the Outer Banks is like bragging that you've been to the bathroom.

I'm gonna make one that says SEX on it. Naturally, all the freepers will wonder what SEX stands for. Well, it stands for sex. I like sex. I like sex better than I like the Outer Banks. If I want to advertise sex on my bumper, it should be okay, right?
