Saw "Finding Neverland" last night. What a tearjerker.
Edited on Sat Apr-16-05 03:20 PM by Bouncy Ball
Blubbing through the last half of that thing. We got it from Netflix, but loved it so much (and great extras!) that I've got to own it now. That's one I could watch again and again.

The little boy who played the real life Peter was incredible. Those eyes!!!!! That scene at the end!!! I've rarely ever seen such a good child actor.

???

Well, my husband was trying to quickly wipe his eyes and then claimed his ALLERGIES were bothering him!

It's really hard to see that movie and NOT get choked up. I challenge anyone with a heart beating in their chest to watch the final scene with Johnny Depp and the kid that played Peter, sitting on the park bench and NOT at least get a big ol' cry ball in their throat. Imposible!

(And I'm not really one to cry at movies.)

3. I don't know. I'm a rock.
I've only had a couple movies get past my defenses (Silent Running, Raising Arizona, and Empire of the Sun).

FOR SURE.

I don't even mean a little bit, I mean "where's the Kleenex?"

Wow, I haven't thought about that movie in years. And yes, it made me cry, too.

yeah and she's a great one at that!!!

You're just envious of her capacity to emote.

So there.

Glad you enjoyed the flick.

Will have to check it out.

Too funny. That's like being envious of someone's capacity to breath.

11. HIGHLY recommended movie.
And we're very picky about movies. Everything was so well done. In fact, afterward, I got on the computer and started reading more about J.M. Barrie. They changed up a few things in the movie, but it was pretty darn true to his actual story. All the names were correct, too.

Sigh. Swoon. Oh it also makes you want to re-watch "Peter Pan."

And I said the exact same thing! That final seen - w/ his big old juicy tears ... I was a goner. Such a great movie. My blanket was tear-soaked by the end. Definitely one to own. :hi:

up with. I would have taken some Kleenex into the living room. Had a runny nose, too.

God, that last scene. Wasn't he just incredible? Felt like my heart was being ripped out. Have GOT to buy it on DVD. Simply have to.

Er, I mean that's when his "allergies" started "bothering him." LMAO!

From then until the last moment of the movie, it was blubber-city.

Then I posted on here and people started responding with all these horrible things about J.M. Barrie. Like the fact that Peter grew up disturbed and eventually killed himself by throwing himself underneath a train.

And I absolutely agree with you. It was a great movie. I got my husband to watch it and I even think he was moved. I loved the part when the mother started clapping, that got my tears flowing.

You're right about that kid who played Peter-- an excellent talent!

20. Closest I've come to crying during a movie since I was 5...
The only time I ever cried during a movie was when I was 5, watching Masters of teh Universe. When Skeletor captured He-man and was torturing him. That was rough.

23. I have nothing against Clint Eastwood these days --
Edited on Sat Apr-16-05 03:54 PM by Old Crusoe
-- and I've followed him from the early Westerns and WHERE EAGELS DARE with Burton all thr way through the later films.

Nothin' against Clint. And his movie placed first.

But this film was the year's best, hands down. What a SCRIPT the playright lent to this, and Depp and Winslet are luminescent.

The young folks in the cast probably will be the next generation's Depp and Winslet..

And Julie Christie. My god the character that woman played made me recoil in my seat. Strong performance by a pro of long standing.

Hell, even the guy who played the sheep dog was great!

Bouncy Ball, you are right-on with this one & yes you should own it.

27. Agreed. This should have won Best Picture, and Winslet
Should have been put up for Best Supporting Actress. WHY has she never won and Oscar??? She's terrific... as is the very liberal and dapper Mr. Depp...

25. Possible Spoiler Info
I started crying halfway through the movie (sigh... my sweet Kate Winslet... what an actress, I know she secretly loves me). However, at the end in the parlor, when Peter Pan says she'll die... unless you can save her, and most of the kids look at Kate, and she and Julie Christie start crying... Jesus. I literally SOBBED.

Great movie.

29. "Peter" is playing Charlie Bucket opposite Depp's Willie Wonka
Johnny Depp loved the kid's acting so much, he had him chosen for Charlie Bucket. The ever yummy Helena Bonham Carter (Although not quite Kate Winslet yummy) will be Mrs. Bucket.
