Does anyone here have synaesthesia?
I just randomly came across an artice on wikipedia about it and led me to a bunch of other sites. I think it is one of the most fascinating things I've ever heard of. If anyone has it, could you please explain how you see, or taste, or smell things?

1. I don't think I have it, necessarily,
but I always assign numbers with certain colors in my mind. That is, when I envision a number, the mental image of that number usually has a particular color assigned to it.
Here's what I envision when it come to numbers:
0=black
1=white
2=red
3=orange
4=green
5=yellow
6=lavender
7=blue
8=purple
9=gold
Freaky, huh? :freak:

I too have read articles on synesthesia. Some people supposedly can taste squares or smell letters. Like I said, I don't think I have it, but when I heard of it, I wondered...

4. I guess so...
I did more reading on the subject this evening. As for agreeing on a color, the one site I was on had a pink 8, and everybody knows an 8 is purple. :)

5. Do numbers like 20 or 34 have their own colors
or just a color for each digit?

10. Usually just a color for each digit.
For example, I envision the number "2005" as red, black & yellow.

6. I wouldn't say I do, but...
I've often associated certain musical notes with certain colors. Not exactly "hearing colors," I don't think, but an E-flat would often conjure up green in my head, while an E-natural would more likely summon an image of bright orange, and an F-natural would make me think of navy blue. Close?

8. I'm a musician, and I learned to memorize by hearing 'colors' in the music
Really helped me memorize some a-tonal hindemith stuff.

I also can see auras. I dated an e.r. physician who examined me and said I really do display some characteristics of a synaesthesiac.
