4. She has two younger sisters
Edited on Sat Apr-16-05 01:46 PM by Jack Rabbit
Susan (also called Zsuzsa) is the oldest.

I think Zsofia, the middle sister, is the best looking.

Judit, the youngest sister, is a best chess player of the three, which is saying a lot. Judit Polgar refuses to play in women only events; with Kasparov's recent retirement, she is the eighth ranked player in the world.

This game is considered on of Judit Polgar's finest. Her opponent is now the world's top ranked player with the retirement of Kasparov:
Judit Polgar v. Viswanathan Anand, International Tournament at Dos Hermanas, April 1999 (Sicilian Defense)

This is a recent victory by Zsuzsa Polgar. Her oppoenent, like Zsuzsa, is a former women's world champion:
Zsuzsa Polgar v. Maia Chiburnidze, Chess Olympiad at Calvia, October 2004 (English Game)

5. how old are they now?
I think both sisters are better looking than Susan. She's okay, but her chess ability makes her more attractive to me. That probably would lose its appeal after I had been blown off the board a couple hundred times.

6. I think Judit is 29
She took last year off to have a baby.

I hate to pop everybody's fantasies, but all three of them are married.

8. They shoot big holes in the claims of the women-can't-do-math crowd
Their father raised them according to two simple principles.
He raised them "like boys." That is to say, to be human beings, not Britney Spears.
He encouraged them to learn a specialized skill.

Women's alleged deficits in math, science and reasoning are culturally conditioned. Are you listening, Lawrence Summers?

10. The Chess Olympiad
Chess is not a Olympic sport.

However, there is an international team tournament, often called the Chess Olympiad held every two to four years. The most recent one was held last October in Calvia, Mallorca, Spain.

11. Oh good.
For a second I felt kind of stupid. How could you miss something like that, LOL.

I did know they had an Olympiad either, though. Sigh. Thanks for the info!

13. Yeah, that's stupid.
Since it's run by who'd I'd assume are older people (read: men) I'm not surprised though.

15. Old chessplayer here too
Never understood separating men and woman players either.

I think it was an attempt to get women to play more, but at the top levels, what's the thinking?
