If somebody had suggested this to Tim Burton, I bet it would have worked a lot better than his Apes remake.

I'm not really the cat person; all I know is that the Siamese cats are going to be the bad guys. Go to!

4. Kilgore Trout (Philip Jose Farmer) already did it.
In Venus on the Half-shell, space wanderer Simon Wagstaff and his dog Anubis as well as Athena, his owl came across a planet in which the progentors of the predominant species was feline. It's called Shaltoon

8. Kzin
The Man-Kzin Wars is what SF professionals now call a "franchised universe," a series of books based in Larry Niven's "Known Space" future history. In this world line, the Earth and the various human-settled planets are attacked by a race of spacefaring cat creatures called the Kzin. Their culture is extremely warlike, kinda Sparta meets samurai with extra bloodthirstiness. But it turns out they have certain familiar cat attributes: they love fish, they love ice cream (which they have to learn about from the humans), and they love to play with giant balls of yarn. The stories are great fun.

In Montana there's a radio station with the call letters KZIN, but nobody that works there reads science fiction, so they don't use the call letters anywhere; instead they refer to themselves as Z-100. Morans.

9. And they were defeated by, let me guess, our dog-people allies?

I know Mr Niven has produced some fine work, but I've always felt this was silly and simplistic. The Kzin even made a little known Star Trek appearance, which confirmed my suspicions.

Your mileage may vary.
