Argh. Everytime I open Word or Wordperfect, they close with an error msg!
Both give me an error message like "Sorry, this program has encountered and error and must close now." Then boom, they close.

I ran a virus scan and everything is okay.
I ran a disk defrag. Doesn't make any difference.
I ran AdAware. No spyware trouble.
I reset my computer back to 2 weeks ago. No effect.

All my other programs seem to be working okay, but why are my 2 word processing programs acting like this?

Has this ever happened to you?

1. Did you just do a Java update?
I will never do THAT again. Screwed up my Word program - turned everything italic, removed fonts from my Fonts folder, jesus, what a mess it was.

4. Wait, yes I think I did.
What did you end up doing to fix the problem?

Word will not even stay open for me--it just shuts itself down as soon as it gets open. It opens, and 3 or 4 seconds later, it gives me the error message and says it has to close.

6. I used GoBack, which helped,

but I still had to download a bunch of fonts and reinstall them.

Never again.

See if you can uninstall the update. I don't honestly know if you can, though.

3. I just open the program and it closes--not with any particular document.

Just opening the program itself, without choosing any particular document, it shuts itself down (both Word and Wordperfect).

8. Have you cleared out your TEMP files...
because that's the problem I had with WordPerfect a while ago.

Other than that, who knows...
