DUELING car alarms/horns outside.
One car alarm is going off (it's a steady honk) so the teenager across the street is honking the horn on HIS car (which is considerably higher pitched) when the car alarm horn is not honking (on the down beat).

Lovely little mating song they have going on right now.

My ears are bleeding, this better stop soon.

Honk, HONK! Honk, HONK! Honk, HONK!

Ah, now we have kids bouncing a basketball in time to it, too. Next up, "Stomp" right here on my street.

12. We have a fully grown silver maple in our front yard.
God those trees get big and NICE shade in the summer (it's on the west side of our house). I hope your sapling recovers.

15. Oh, it's doing ok.
It's leafing out pretty nicely.

The front of my house faces west, so I'm exciting about getting some shade eventually.

I only paid $12.99 for it at Big Lots. :-)

2. I gotta admit...
that's kinda funny. It wouldn't be as funny if I were trying to sleep... but, still.

3. Guess what? It's still going on.
I heard an adult yell something unintelligible just now. And my daughter is out there walking the dog, probably having a great time watching it all. And my dog is probably a nervous mess from it, peeing on herself or something.

LOL ok it is kinda funny, BUT IT'S REALLY ANNOYING.

7. You wish you could hear it for about five seconds.
But by my calculations, it's been going on for a few loooong minutes now and I think an adult or two is about to kill a kid or two. This should be fun.

11. LOL
hm, yeah, i imagine after 5 minutes it would start to get trying on my nerves. hehe, then the only thing for you to do , is join them. get in your car and start honking your horn, making a more complex rhythm.

14. Maybe a double-time kinda thing?
I'm going outside anyway, I can hear them yelling rap songs to it now.

16. sure, or if it's a different pitch
you could do a harmony.

10. AND A BANJO!!!
And a tamborine!!! And a triangle! And a soussaphone! And a cello would be good! Maybe a kazoo and a harmonica section.

I'm losing my mind. Ok that's it, I'm going out there.

13. I did not know we had a car alarm on our car. Until the children set
it off the other day when I ran in the drugstore. It appears that if I lock the doors and then they try to open them from inside...it trips the alarm. I had no idea our car could do this. :hi:

18. Now that it's mostly over, I can laugh.
The car alarm is still going off, but when I went outside, this is what I saw:

The teenager in his car, honking and doing his head back and forth like he was jamming out.

One kid hitting a tree branch on a basketball post in time to it.

One kid bouncing a basketball in time to it.

All of them shouting some rap song I didn't recognize.

My daughter standing in our driveway with our dog, who was barking her ASS off at the whole thing.

The dad of the teenager came out at the same time several other adults emerged. The dad of the teenager screamed something I couldn't make out REALLY LOUD and the kid stopped and went in, looking rather sheepish.

The other kids looked sort of lost without the down beat and all tapered off at different times.

The original car alarm is still going.

You CANNOT stop kids when they hear a rhythm. It's like a law of nature. Now my ears are ringing.
