I just finished listening to an audience recording of a Devo show from 1977, where the audience was pretty much non-existent, and all the tempos were a lot slower. What a difference 3 years makes. This one is an FM broadcast, and the crowd is huge.

2. No, but did I ever tell you about my "Mongoloid" discovery...
...in a Kindergarten music book? There was a song called "The Spider" in the "Music Connection" series we use here. The chord structure and melody of the opening line are identical to "Mongoloid".

4. What's worse...
...is that most of my older students only know Devo music from commercials. On the other hand, at least they've been exposed to it, right? That's why I can't fault Mark Mothersbaugh and the rest of Devo for doing commercial work. I think those who call them "sell-outs" aren't seeing the bigger, more devious (or "Devo-ious") picture. Kind of like subliminal (excuse me, "subliminable") messages.

8. Ever heard his "Muzik For Insomniaks"?
Classic stuff. In the vein of the "Rugrats" theme, but much less...childlike. I recently received a disc of music he wrote for "Pee-Wee's Playhouse" that was never used. Haven't listened to it yet, though.

9. You must make a list of pros and cons.
It always works on sitcoms.
