GMs New Giant Hummer Starts At $140,000

It's bigger and badder and would be right at home with the GIs patrolling Baghdad.

GM is taking the wraps off the 2006 Hummer H1. The military-style Humvee gets a new Duramax turbo-diesel V-8 in the upgraded Alpha model.

The 300-horsepower engine is needed to move the 7,600-pound beast.

The civilian Hummer has touches GIs can only dream about, like air conditioning, power windows and door locks, a premium stereo system and leather-trimmed seats.

But you need something like the Pentagon budget to buy one. The hardtop Hummer H1 has a sticker price of $140,000.
