It is OK for vegetarians to eat clams.
Many of my vegetarian friends like to claim that they will not eat "anything with a face". Well, if you show me a clam with a face, I will probably die on the spot. Same with oysters.

So eat 'em up and don't feel bad. You are welcome for the loophole.

1. yuck...I'll stick to the vegetables
of course, I'm not a vegetarian...yet

Since I'm likely to be starting a diet with protein restrictions soon...that might change, though. But due to health reasons...not because of the 'face' factor.

2. The arrow at the 11 oclock position points to a pair of "lips"
If you could follow them toward the top of the figure they would terminate at an opening--the mouth. Not much of a face but...still, it's there to be kissed.

5. Not if they are a vegetarian.
Pesce-vegetarians eat fish.

Vegetarians don't eat meat (the flesh of an animal).

The expression of not eating anything with a face is a common explanation that is obviously not all-encompassing. Another common one is "I don't eat anything that had a mother."

6. I am a vegetarian, but I do eat fish.
I say when asked what I eat that "I don't eat anything with hair, fur or feathers."

7. didn't peter singer make that argument in animal rights?
Or was it oysters?

The logic was pretty suspicious if you ask me.

The conservation movement is a breeding ground of communists
and other subversives. We intend to clean them out,
even if it means rounding up every birdwatcher in the country.

8. Get that clam on ebay ASAP! It's got the image of Jesus in it!!
Take a look for yourself and you can see it right there, the area where the arrow at 1:00 is pointing to!

I can just see the headlines: "A DU poster, formerly an atheist, finds clam that looks like Jesus and sells it on ebay for 1.3 million dollars, becoming a devout believer!"
