Any Status Quo fans here?

I first discovered Status Quo when the Knebworth '90 concert was broadcast here in the US. I believe they played a longer set than anybody else that day, and I instantly loved their sound. Imagine my surprise when I heard them play "Whatever You Want", and wondered why they were playing the Mandee's jingle!

Anyway, being a Quo fan in the States is tough, as their albums are very difficult to find. I usually have to ask relatives or friends to pick up the reissues for me when they're in England so I don't have to pay obscene import prices. Also, they very rarely play shows here. I was unable to see them on their last US tour, but I caught one of the three shows on the tour before that.

So, any other Status Quo fans here?

I couldn't tell you which ones off hand as they are down in the black hole (basement) brought them over from the UK when I moved here a couple of years ago.

I think I have about 3 would love to be able to play my vinyl collection but alas no record player at the moment, I probably have close to 500 records down there!

4. Yes, I've been a fan since 1968!

I had their first lp and single in '68 (Pictures Of Matchstick Men), and rediscovered them around 1972 when their classic lp 'Piledriver'. I bought every Quo album (and a few 8-tracks) I could find back in the 70s and played the heck out of them. Quo is one of those bands you either love or hate. Sure, they did stuff I didn't care for, but the good stuff is really kick ass. I sorta lost interest in them in the 80s, mostly because their style changed, but I have a lot of their CDs/vinyl and still listen to them. My favorite line-up is Francis Rossi, Rick Parfitt, Alan Lancaster and John Coghlan.

They're releasing a new CD next month "Riffs", mostly covers. Their last CD "Heavy Traffic", was supposed to be pretty good, but I haven't heard it (the guitarists Parfitt and Rossi are the only original members).

7. Heavy Traffic is great!

There's some crap, of course, but there's a number of tracks I think are destined to be Quo classics. They fit very well into the live set.

6. I picked up "12 Gold Bars" in England when I was in high school...

...and I thought it was great, but I haven't ever seen much of their stuff in North America. I'd love to find a good compilation of their stuff on CD...

I have "Rockin' All Over The Years", which is a great one-disc hits from 1990 or so, but I believe a 2-disc set which is more comprehensive came out in the last year or two.
